Pregnancy Implications

Animal reproduction studies have not been conducted. Diatrizoate salts cross the placenta and may enter fetal circulation. Abnormal neonatal opacification of the small intestine and colon have been reported in the newborn 4-6 days after delivery. In general, iodinated contrast media agents are avoided during pregnancy unless essential for diagnosis.

Hypersensitivity to diatrizoate or any component of the formulation; solutions for instillation should not be used for intravascular injection; solutions for injection are not for intrathecal use

Cystografin®: Diatrizoate meglumine 30% (100 mL, 300 mL) [provides organically-bound iodine 141 mg/mL; contains edetate disodium]

Cystografin® Dilute: Diatrizoate meglumine 18% (300 mL) [provides organically-bound iodine 85 mg/mL; contains edetate disodium]

Reno-30®: Diatrizoate meglumine 30% (50 mL) [provides organically-bound iodine 141 mg/mL; contains edetate disodium]

Solution, for instillation [preservative free] (Hypaque-Cysto™): Diatrizoate meglumine 30% (250 mL) [provides organically-bound iodine 141 mg/mL; contains edetate calcium disodium]

Solution, injection:

Hypaque™ Meglumine: Diatrizoate meglumine 60% (50 mL, 100 mL, 150 mL, 200 mL) [provides organically-bound iodine 282 mg/mL; contains edetate calcium disodium]

Reno-60®: Diatrizoate meglumine 60% (10 mL, 50 mL, 100 mL, 150 mL) [provides organically-bound iodine 282 mg/mL; contains edetate disodium, sodium 0.91 mg (0.04 mEq)/mL]
