For years, Joel has been a popular speaker on integrating functional medicine in clinical practice through our Metagenics Educational Programs. Beyond our borders, he was tapped as honorary co-chairman of the Physicians Advisory Board to U.S. Congress to discuss health care reform. This innovative clinician is not only a founding diplomate of the American Board of Holistic Medicine, but the first and only physician in Connecticut to be board certified in both holistic medicine and obstetrics and gynecology.
He received his MD from Mount Sinai School of Medicine and completed his residency at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, where he later served as assistant clinical professor. He's also been an educator at the College of Physicians & Surgeons of Columbia University and The Center for Mind-Body Medicine.
As founder and director of The Center for Women's Health, he's practiced integrative health care for years—a very progressive move at the start. And to help other health care providers successfully adopt these principles, he authored The Whole Pregnancy Handbook: an Obstetrician's Guide to Integrating Conventional and Alternative Medicine Before, During, and After Pregnancy.
